Open Question: Is Voodoo practiced in London?
I was on the tube train. South London, crammed like sardines in a tin as usual when I could sense someone staring at me. So, making out I wasn’t flustered by this I slowly raised my peepers from the paper to see a very comely, portly Lady of African/Caribbean origin in a bright and colorful headscarf smiling sweetly at me as she grasped two bulging bags of shopping. So lovely and mumsey she looked I found myself smiling back and bade her good day Ma’am. Imagine my surprise when she suddenly jabbered in a fearful tongue brandishing a black and white chicken, her eyes white with an unholy fervor! She waggled the said poultry in my direction and yabbered a cant or sorts and slaughtered the flapping bird with a moon blessed dagger of shimmering silver. I decided to pay no attention mind and chose to ignore the silly old trotter, and resumed reading the paper. There was an article about winter tips for gardening, which I found interesting, and also, I spotted with a gasp, a super picture of a racing motor vehicle in the motoring section. A V12 too, haven’t we come along way from the horse and trap eh?
Voting Question: Horse only wants to lead on trail?
I just bought my new horse about 5 months ago. He’s young, only 5, but has a very calm demeanor and generally listens very well. He’s started on barrels, but I haven’t raced him yet. When he is in the ring being worked, he’s PERFECT. When riding alone, he’s perfect (a tad bit more energy on the trial then in the ring, but still an angel). The problem is when I ride with a group. He doesn’t like to be behind other horses. Yesterday I rode with a group, and all the horses in the group were hot, crazy barrel horses. It was a walk only ride, but the other horses naturall were prancing along and walking fast. My horse gets very upset when he’s left behind, and starts cantering in place and getting a little nutsy. Now I’ve ridden hot barrel horses for many years, so I’m used to this kind of behavior. I just don’t want him to stay in this habit! I don’t feel like dealing with crazy horses anymore. If I ride with anyone, as long as he’s in the front he’s fine. But if someone passes me, he gets upset and starts getting really rowdy. I don’t think he has been trail ridden much. I think the girl who owned him before me mostly did ring work with him. Like I said, alone or in the front of the pack he’s perfect. He’s great in the ring. Does anyone have any tips on how to rectify this behavior?
